We journeyed back to the heart of Slovenia’s most vibrant and most aromatic wine region: Štajerska. This tasting was a true tribute to the landscape and character of this dynamic area, home to over 1,000 small producers. In the rolling hills around Maribor, history is palpable—from the world’s oldest living grapevine to the family estates where tradition meets stunning innovation.
The evening highlighted the full soul of Štajerska, featuring wines from truly inspiring producers from the Maribor area: a renowned women-led winery, a pioneer of the natural wine movement, and a gold-medal-winning family famed for their exquisite late harvests and ice wines. From these producers, we sampled eight different varieties that showcased the region's impressive versatility.
The tasting was paired with traditional regional snacks, offering a true, unforgettable taste of Štajerska - cured meats and ham from Pohorje, local horseradish, cottage cheese infused with pumpkin seed oil, and crispy ocvirki (known as Schweineschwarten in German).

Slovenian Istria - a region of contrast, character, and quiet beauty. It stretches across just 46 km of coastline, yet holds centuries of history, flavor, and soul.
On the seaside: the radiant towns of Piran, Koper, and Portorož - each with its own crown. Like three kings, they rule the shore, luring in cruise ships, creatives, gourmets, and dreamers with their golden charm.
And then there's the hinterland - Istria’s raw, rugged heart. The Šavrin Hills - a flysch mountain range - define the Istrian interior. Winding roads climb into the hills, often called the "Tuscany of Slovenia" - but let’s be honest: it’s better. Wilder. More authentic.
It’s a place of resistance and resilience, where strong people cultivate strong grapes. And what grows here, becomes soft and silky melodic wine you’ll crave every time the sun touches your skin.

Kras. A mystic landscape in Slovenia, nestled between the Julian Alps and the Adriatic Sea. Its surface is ruled by shifting winds, pale, scorching sun, and moody rains - while beneath the burnt soil, an underground world of caves and turquoise rivers reigns.
Here, some of Slovenia’s most extraordinary wines are born - nourished by limestone salt, colored by the deep red terra rossa, and sculpted by the wild, relentless Bora wind. It takes sheer stubbornness and a good dose of creativity to survive in Kras - whether you’re human or vine.
Opening our first wine tasting session will be Vitovska Grganja - an indigenous white grape variety nearly abandoned, now resurrected like a phoenix and holding its own among the world’s finest.
Also on the menu - one of a kind Kras Malvasia. Unlike its cousins from southern neighboring regions, it ranges from salty and zesty, from pale yellow to deep golden color, to bold and ever-so-slightly unhinged. Drinking it feels like being ambushed by one of the legendary Kras goblins.
And then there’s the infamous Teran, the so-called black wine. It exists only here in Kras. Protected for centuries by nature and tradition, Teran is more than a wine - it’s a potion that heals, warms the heart and leaves you with a proud black moustache.
